JAKARTA - PT Bank Muamalat Tbk. It is said that it has allocated Rp100 billion in funds this year for the development of the information technology sector (IT).

Bank Muamalat President Director Indra Falatehan said the budget was included in the 2023 Bank Business Plan (RBB).

"Our capital expenditure this year is around Rp. 100 billion," he said when answering VOI's question in Jakarta on Friday, May 12.

According to Indra, his party pays great attention to the IT sector because it is the company's commitment to securing customer data.

"Every day the potential for cybercrime continues to increase. For this reason, customer data security is a top priority for us," he said.

Indra explained that this strategic effort is in line with Bank Muamalat's business development which is increasingly accelerating in digital channels. For example, he explained that debit card transactions as of April 2023 had reached 409,510 transactions.

Of this figure, a total of 92 percent is done through EDC machines at the mercy of the company's partners. While the rest are other online transactions.

"We continue to innovate and improve the security features," he said.

Indra added that the security feature in the online debit of the Shar-E card has been certified by VISA (Verified by VISA Secure Code).

He said, securing transactions in this feature uses 3D Secure technology with One Time Password (OTP) validation in the form of 6 digit PIN sent via SMS.

"The purpose of the OTP is to ensure the safety of transactions between merchants and customers as if they are transacting face-to-face," he concluded.
