Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the Inspectorate General (Itjen) of the Ministry of Finance could continue to be a reliable institution and provide protection and guarantees for the quality of state financial management.

According to the Minister of Finance, this effort is very strategic in order to create high public trust in the government

"Trusted by the public, transparent, accountable, and this is part of the foundation of creating public trust whose value is priceless," he said at the opening of the 2022 Leadership Working Meeting (Rakerpim) quoted Tuesday, November 22.

The Minister of Finance said that the purpose of holding the Rakerpim was in order to evaluate the performance of 2022 and make a 2023 work plan.

"We also need to revitalize the Inspectorate General through a combination of assurance and strengthening integrity so that state financial management can be more transparent and accountable," he said.

To that end, he gave directions to all ranks to be able to identify the various challenges that are currently being faced by state finances, where these challenges continue to develop and experience changes.

"That means that Indonesia in designing economic policies must know which changes should be reduced, which one should be focused on which one we must change. That's the fiscal policy, macro, sectoral, state financial policy, transfer to the regions, everything must adapt to the changing environment," he explained.

The state treasurer also asked all ranks to make the pandemic a valuable lesson, namely in order to manage its impact on state financial governance and accountability.

"Because the pandemic is not just today. It may repeat itself, the size, the type is different, but the pandemic for sure according to these experts will repeat itself. So study, capture knowledge, book, and learn from all teams at the Itjen and all internal control systems in state finances," he said.

Finally, the Minister of Finance emphasized that the Inspectorate General could also evolve, as well as strengthen in terms of integrity and not corruption.

Integrity has become our DNA. So that culturally, attitude must continue to be instilled," he concluded.
