Reiner Rahardja Reveals Metaverse And Blockchain Development Will Give Birth To New Economy

JAKARTA - The development of blockchain, which began to be followed by the jargon of the "metaverse" trend, has recently attracted more and more public attention in the world, especially game-based applications that embed crypto currency with blockchain technology as the basis for its supporting technology platform.

But unfortunately the understanding of the metaverse is still very early and people often refer to all types of blockchain-based games as metaverses even though the metaverse discoursed by world industrialists is much more complicated and complex in the realm of implementing and activating its ecosystem, not just blockchain-based online games.

​On one occasion, Reiner Rahardja, an entrepreneur who has also been in the world of blockchain development since 6 years ago, explained that a true Metaverse will only occur if it has an independent ecosystem and economic application in it which makes the metaverse the embodiment of the combination of the words "meta" and "universe". ” or meta-universe which is then shortened to a new word, “metaverse”.

The word universe itself means the universe which represents physical space and time in our daily lives, of course including human daily activities which all revolve around the elements of finance and money.

While the word Meta etymologically means "beyond" or transcendent, it is this understanding of the word that confuses the global meaning of metaverse because the public has not been able to distinguish between Meta, which means Mark Zuckerberg's social media brand, or meta in the true sense of the word.

"So many people think the metaverse is a product or technology belonging to the company that used to be called Facebook, but it's not at all," Reiner said.

He also described his simple metaverse as a new world that transcends the principles of physical space and time and becomes a second life option for every human being to take his life seriously. Not in the context of moving life from the current universe and then literally entering the metaverse in cyberspace and not coming out again, but rather the existence of two different types of worlds that run together or are "co-exist".

This fact is also seen in Mark Zuckerberg's statement in 2021 that he is transforming his company from a social media company into a metaverse company. From there we get a hidden message that the virtual world is not currently a metaverse, while the largest population of cyberspace today is just a social media resident.

In line with what Reiner Rahardja said, that when the metaverse is ready, we can start a new life in it and even move our livelihoods and social life completely within the metaverse.

"Moving to the metaverse is a kind of migration, it's like Indonesians wandering abroad to improve their fate, in the end, they are looking for money, but they only have new relationships and old identities don't need to be brought to the metaverse. who is in our home country," he said.

​What's interesting from the current blockchain aspect is that when the metaverse no longer uses the world's currency and all business and economic activities in it are completely separate from the normal universe economy. Because, said Reiner, the nature of blockchain is decentralized or not centralized or controlled by a handful of superpowers, so what exists is the arrangement of the people for the people through the blockchain voting system.

This trait, which, if implemented properly, will separate the metaverse economy from the existing universe, as evidenced by the recent development of cryptocurrencies, which have experienced the phenomenon of "decoupling" from the world financial market several times.

Even in the Fed's decision on November 2, 2022 yesterday, crypto volatility was not as low as the stock exchange and it shows an anomaly, imagine if crypto is fully alive in the metaverse, it will become a dark horse in mass changes in human life patterns.

​It's just a matter of time until the metaverse that works as expected can emerge and "co-exist" with the current universe and provide a wider choice of life to continue to work in the real world or start a new life with new relationships and opportunities in the metaverse .

"I think that even before 2027, many humans have migrated to the metaverse because there is already a metaverse that can facilitate this new life holistically," said Reiner.
