Monitoring The Pasar Kasih Naikoten Kupang, Trade Minister Zulhas: Basic Commodities Prices Are Stable

JAKARTA - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) claims the price of basic commodities (Bapok) at the Kasih Naikoten Market, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, is stable.

In fact, the price of bulk cooking oil is in line with the highest retail price (HET) of IDR 14,000 per liter.

Zulhas as Zulkifli Hasan is familiar said the price of beef was sold at IDR 110,000 per kilogram.

The price, said Zulhas, is much cheaper than in other areas in Indonesia.

This was conveyed by Zulhas after monitoring the prices and availability of necessities in the market today.

“Chicken is IDR 45,000 per kg, slightly higher than in Java, which is IDR 40,000 per kg. The price of bulk cooking oil is the same as in Java, which is IDR 14,000 per liter. As for the basic commodities, in general, it is quite stable", he said in a written statement, Saturday, July 30.

Zulhas said the shallots and chilies have started to harvest, so their availability and prices are stable.

Shallots are sold for IDR 45,000 per kg or slightly higher than in Java.

“The chili has dropped to a price of IDR 80,000 per kg. The Kasih Naikoten Market is managed by the Kupang City Government and occupies an area of 1,250 m2. The market has 200 stalls and 100 kiosks that can accommodate more than 400 traders", he explained.

The Ministry of Trade, continued Zulhas, continues to monitor price developments and the availability of necessities daily through the Basic Needs Market Monitoring System (SP2KP) in 216 markets, and 90 districts/cities throughout Indonesia.

As of July 29, 2022, compared to last month, the prices of several commodities were stable, such as premium rice, beef, chicken eggs, soybeans, garlic, and wheat flour.

Meanwhile, several commodity prices experienced a decline, such as bulk cooking oil which fell 8.86 percent to IDR 14,400 per liter, simple packaged cooking oil decreased by 13.96 percent to IDR 19,100 per liter, and premium packaged cooking oil fell by 7.51 percent. to IDR 23,400 per liter.

Furthermore, red chili peppers fell 23.5 percent to IDR 72,600 per kg, curly red chilies fell 6.06 percent to IDR 69,800 per kg, and large red chilies fell 0.98 percent to IDR 70,600 per kg, and red onion fell 13.10 percent to IDR 52,400 per kg.
