Strengthening International Performance, BNI Targets Global-Oriented MSMEs And Diaspora

JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BNI) is said to continue to make efforts to improve international performance through various strategic expansions. Recently, this state-owned bank is targeting global-oriented MSMEs and diaspora.

BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar said the two business segments have potential to be targeted.

"We encourage MSME collaboration to go global as well as diaspora, both immigrant workers or those who have settled there. That is our future target" he said in an official statement on Tuesday, July 12.

Royke noted that currently there are around 8 million diasporas abroad that BNI has the potential to serve. Of this number, 4 million diasporas are immigrant workers, while the rest have become foreign nationals.

According to Royke, if the diaspora saves an average of US$1,000 per year, the potential third-party funds (DPK) that will be collected can reach US$8 billion. In addition to empowering the diaspora, his party also wants to empower the diaspora network to encourage MSMEs to advance to class by presenting Indonesian MSME products abroad.

"As one of the state-owned banks, BNI has been mandated to develop banking services abroad. This can not be separated from the existence of our branch office which has been present in Singapore for the first time since 1955," he said.

The bank with the issuer code BBNI is known to continue to optimize official digital services so that it can better serve international transactions for individual customers and business segments.

"We are releasing BNI as a digital service that can be used by SMEs from various levels, from those who are still pioneering to those who are ready to expand their market in the global arena. These facilities can be freely accessed by all MSME actors in order to further increase their business capacity," concluded BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar.
