Erick Thohir Ensures Sarinah Will Re-open In March 2022

JAKARTA - SOE Minister, Erick Thohir, said Sarinah shops will reopen in March 2022, after the renovation of the building is completed.

The plan was conveyed by SOE Minister Erick Thohir to the owner of the Al Jaber shopping network, namely Hussain A. Jaber and who was present at the review of Indonesian MSME products at Al Jaber Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa area, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Erick also revealed his plan to invite Hussain Jaber to the inauguration of Sarinah's opening next year.

"We invite you to Indonesia because actually, we will open Sarinah in March. Maybe we can invite him (Hussain A. Jaber)", said Erick Thohir on his official Instagram account @erickthohir, quoted from Antara, Thursday 11 November.

When reviewing MSME products at the Al Jaber store, the Minister of SOEs said he was proud to see Indonesian MSME products arranged beautifully in the shop.

"I'm very proud to see Indonesian MSME products arranged beautifully in the Al Jaber store, Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa area", said Erick Thohir

On that occasion, the Minister of SOEs met directly with Hussain A. Jaber. MSMEs that enter the Al Jaber store are MSMEs fostered by BNI Xpora.

Erick also knows that many Indonesian MSME products at the Al Jaber store have been sold. Even shop owners praised Indonesian MSME products for having good finishing.

"Starting from shoes, bags, jewelry, to fans. Fans are one of my favorites because they match Dubai's hot weather. Very good. I hope that in the future there will be more MSME products that can go global", said Erick Thohir.

Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir revealed that the inauguration and reopening of the Sarinah Building after the renovation were postponed to early 2022.

Erick wants Sarinah to sell and market local products or brands, but Sarinah must also have marketing channels abroad by collaborating with world-renowned duty-free retailer Dufry.
