Government Deploys Hilal Observer To Points Dominated By Beaches, Mountains, And Hills

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) will hold a session to decide the beginning of Ramadan 1442 H on Monday, April 12. The Isbat session on the determination of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr will involve a number of integrated teams. Observer teams will be deployed in locations dominated by beaches, mountains, and hills.

Director-General of Islamic Community Guidance (Bimas Islam), Kamaruddin Amin, through a press statement received by VOI, Saturday, April 10, said the Isbat Session will be held online and offline, led directly by The Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

The Ministry also invited Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) leaders and a number of representatives from Commission VIII of the House of Representatives to the Ministry of Religious Affairs Building in Jakarta. "The trial of Isbat will be led by Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. We also invite the leaders of MUI and Commission VIII to attend the hearing."

The Isbat session will involve the Hijri Calendar Unification Team of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, representatives of organizations --including Islamic organizations such as NU and Muhammadiyah, LAPAN, BMKG, as well as ambassadors of friendly countries.

Detailing the agenda, the Isbat Session will be held in three stages. First, the presentation of the position of the beginning of Ramadan 1442 H by members of the Hijri Calendar Unification Team of the Ministry of Religious Affairs which will begin at 16.45 western Indonesia time.

The second stage, which will be held after Maghrib (afternoon), will be held closed, before being continued to "the third stage, the press conference of the results of the Isbat session by the Minister of Religious Affairs to be broadcasted by TVRI and the Ministry of Religious Affairs' social media," said Agus.

Deployment of the hilal observer

Agus said the Ministry of Finance will lower the number of hilal observers in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia. There are 86 points, most of which are beaches, mountains, and hills.
