BPBD Calls Rob Flood Altitude On Jalan RE Martadinata Continues To Increase

JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that sea water levels are still rising and submerging Jalan RE Martadinata in front of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Friday afternoon, December 5.

"The current condition is that sea water is still rising and motor vehicles can still be passed," said North Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Head Vitus Dwi Indarto, ANTARA.

He said at 08.30 WIB, the water level was about 35 centimeters (cm) and at 10.00 WIB, the water level on the road rose to 40 cm.

Currently, officers from the Water Resources Sub-dept. carried out suction using two mobile pump units and two floating pump units.

"Personnel continue to monitor and review locations affected by tidal flooding on the coast of North Jakarta," said Vitus.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that a number of locations in North Jakarta and Seribu Regency were flooded with tidal waves on Friday afternoon.

"We noted that there were six RTs and one road segment that were affected by the tidal flood until 11.00 WIB," said Head of the DKI Jakarta BPBD Data and Information Center Mohamad Yohan.

He detailed that there were two RTs in Panggang Island Village which were flooded as high as 10 to 15 cm.

Then, one RT in Marunda Village was flooded as high as 15 cm and three RTs in Pluit Village were also flooded as high as 10 to 30 cm.

In addition, Jalan RE Martadinata in Papanggo Village, Tanjung Priok, was also flooded as high as 40 cm.

BMKG Meteorological Station Class I Maritime Tanjung Priok previously issued an early warning of coastal flooding (rob) on December 1-10, 2025 due to the phenomenon of maximum tide of sea water which coincides with the phenomenon of the full moon and perigene phase (suprmoon), thus potentially increasing the maximum sea level in the form of coastal flooding or tidal flooding in the northern coastal area of Jakarta.

This condition also caused an increase in the water level at the Water Gate of the Fish Market so that it was in danger or Alert 1 on Friday morning at 08.00 WIB and inundation occurred in a number of areas in Jakarta.
