TNI Soldiers Shoot Residents To Death In Jayapura Handed Over By Police To Pomdam Cenderawasih

JAKARTA - The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Papuan Regional Police, Thursday afternoon, handed over Private One TB, the perpetrator of shooting residents until the victim died, to the Military Police of Kodam XVII Cenderawasih.

The handover of TNI AD soldiers along with evidence of a car number PA 1790 AV, one organic firearm and seven rounds of ammunition and other evidence was carried out by the Director of Criminal Investigation of the Papua Police, Police Commissioner Ahmad Fauzi, witnessed by the Head of Propam Division of the Papua Police, Kombes Police Rudi Asriman and Head of Public Relations Kombes Police Cahyo Sukarnito.

Ahmad Fauzi said his party had asked for information from three witnesses in the shooting case. "The three witnesses were with the suspect in the car," he said.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Police Cahyo Sukarnito, added that Pratu TB was arrested by the Jatanras Reskrimum team of the Papua Police and the Cartenz Peace Gakkum Task Force on Thursday morning at around 00.23 WIT after the person concerned reportedly shot a civilian named Obet Manakin (16) until the victim died.

"With the submission of the suspect and evidence, the case is now being handled by Pomdam XVII Cenderawasih," said Cahyo.

Previously, the Head of Information for the XVII Cenderawasih Military Command, Infantry Colonel Candra Kurniawan, confirmed the shooting case carried out by members of the Indonesian Army with the initials Pratu TB against civilians Lambert alias Obet in Entrop, Jayapura City.

From the reports received, the shooting began because of a misunderstanding between Pratu TB and the victim. The shot by Pratu TB hit the waist, causing the victim to die at the scene.

"For more details, the cause of the misunderstanding is still in the process of being investigated," said Kapendam.
