Pramono Discourses Private Employees Must Take Public Transportation Every Wednesday

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung opens the opportunity to make regulations that require the use of public transportation for private employees every Wednesday. Currently, the obligation to ride public transportation every Wednesday only applies to ASN and other DKI Jakarta Provincial Government employees.

Pramono admitted that the discourse to instruct private employees in Jakarta to use public transportation for one day in this week emerged from the proposal of the private company itself.

"Even now there is a request from the private sector.

Is it then time for the private sector to also take public transportation vehicles on Wednesday? I'm currently reviewing it," Pramono said when met in Muara Angke, North Jakarta, Thursday, June 12.

According to Pramono, with more and more residents switching from private vehicles to public transportation to mobilize, it will help unravel congestion in Jakarta, especially in the morning and evening.

Moreover, the DKI Provincial Government currently operates a number of Transjabodetabek routes from Jakarta to buffer areas. Residents' interest in using this transportation service, Pramono claimed, is quite high.

"Animo is an extraordinary community that adds a fairly large bus. For example, PIK 2-Blok M, in the past we only planned a maximum of 2,000 (passengers). Now the average is above 5,000. Even yesterday was a holiday above 6,000. This shows that the interest is high," explained Pramono.

"I think it's good because shifting changes from using private vehicles. To using public vehicles. And that's what we take care of," he added.

The obligation to use public transportation for ASN is contained in Governor's Instruction Number 6 of 2025. Pramono instructed all DKI Jakarta Provincial Government employees to use mass public transportation to go and return to work, as well as mobility for carrying out their duties every Wednesday.

The general transportation includes Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodebek, KRL Commuter Line, airport trains, regular buses/angkots, as well as ships and shuttle vehicles for employees/employees.

This instruction is excluded for employees who are sick, pregnant, people with disabilities, and field officers who need certain mobility.

In its implementation, all DKI Provincial Government employees are required to report activities using public transportation by taking selfies or selfies. The photo is reported by the staffing admin on each of their respective regional apparatus.
