JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) encourages the strengthening of the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) in overseeing the implementation of budget efficiency policies in accordance with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025.

"KPK will encourage APIP at the central to regional levels to carry out its duties optimally," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika when confirmed in Jakarta, Saturday, February 15, as quoted by Antara.

Tessa said the anti-corruption commission had encouraged APIP's optimization of budget efficiency policies because each ministry/institution already had APIP.

"In each ministry/institution, there is already APIP whose functions include focusing on the aspects of savings, efficiency, and effectiveness of carrying out tasks, risk management and improving the quality of governance," he said.

He said the anti-corruption commission would also conduct internal discussions regarding statements from Commission III of the DPR RI, which would cooperate with the KPK, the prosecutor's office and the police in overseeing budget efficiency policies.

"Regarding the statement from Commission III, it will be discussed internally to determine how to act effectively and of course efficient," he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto issued Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 which requested that the government budget in the APBN and APBD for Fiscal Year 2025 be cut by IDR 306.69 trillion.

The budget efficiency comes from the ministry/institution budget of IDR 256.1 trillion and transfers to the regions amounting to IDR 50.59 trillion.
