Mahfud MD Reluctant To Comment On His Name On The Vice Presidential Exchange

The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD was reluctant to comment on his name on the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) exchange.

"I will not talk about practical politics on campus. There is no response, but in general it is a matter of political parties," said Mahfud MD after giving a public lecture on "Democracy with dignity Towards an Indonesia Gold 2045" at Airlangga University Surabaya, Monday, October 16.

He said it was the political parties that decided the name of the vice presidential candidate and were brought to a legal mechanism.

"I have no comments or deals regarding presidential and vice presidential candidates," he said.

Mahfud also talked about campuses or universities being allowed for inspiring political campaigns or national politics, but there should be no electoral political or practical political campaigns.

He gave an example of national politics, there is no political partiality, no one orders or prohibits choosing certain candidates or parties.

"So national politics is the value of the nation and a good state, democracy, human rights, law enforcement and environmental care. This democracy must be taught," he said.
