When The KPK Confirms To Investigate The Case Of Selling And Buying Positions In Tanjungbalai Allegedly Involving Lili Pintauli
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will investigate the bribery case of buying and selling positions in the Tanjungbalai City Government involving the inactive Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial. This certainty was conveyed after allegations that the KPK was hiding something in a case that allegedly involved one of its deputy chairmen, Lili Pintauli Siregar.
Acting KPK Spokesperson for the Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri emphasized that his party was continuing to investigate the case that ensnared M Syahrial by collecting evidence and statements from witnesses who allegedly knew about the crime.
This statement was made after the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman suspected that the KPK was hiding something related to the investigation into the case of buying and selling positions in Tanjungbalai City. The reason is that they did not inform the results of the examination of one of Lili Pintauli's aides, Oktavia Dita Sari, which was conducted on Monday, September 6.
"KPK is still carrying out investigations into this case by collecting related evidence and scheduling examinations of witnesses to obtain the information and information needed", Ali said in a written statement to reporters last week.

He then presented the results of the examination of Oktavia who was examined as a witness. Ali said that Lili's aide admitted that he did not know the suspects in this case, namely M Syahrial and the Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai City, Yusmada.
"The person concerned explained that he did not know the suspects and did not know the actions of the suspects. We only found out the information and information after examination", he said.
Even so, Ali said the KPK would not give up in investigating this case. He revealed that there will be a number of other witnesses examined in this case.
He hopes that the public can continue to provide support to the anti-corruption commission to investigate the crime committed by Syahrial. Moreover, the practice of buying and selling positions has hurt the public's desire to get public officials who can implement good governance practices.
"KPK does not stop here", said Ali.
The spotlight made by Boyamin Saiman happened because the KPK seemed to give Oktavia different treatment because it covered up the results of the examination he did. Moreover, the anti-corruption commission often announces what investigators are investigating about the witnesses who have been summoned to investigate allegations of corruption.
Not only highlighting, but he also mentioned that the KPK is no longer in line with the calls for transparency that he often conveys to other institutions. "How can the KPK demand transparency from other parties if they are closed. If I'm not mistaken, this act can be categorized as hypocrisy", said Boyamin in a written statement received by VOI on Friday, September 10.
He then reminded the anti-corruption commission to comply with the principle of openness as regulated in Article 5 of Law Number 30 of 2002 concerning the KPK.
"In carrying out its duties and authorities, the KPK is based on legal certainty, openness, accountability, public interest, and proportionality", said Boyamin.
For information, it was revealed that Lili Pintauli had communicated with the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial. This is evident from the decision of the KPK Supervisory Board which stated that Lili was proven to have violated ethics and was severely punished in the form of cutting her basic salary by 40 percent for 12 months.
In the ethical trial decision, Lili was said to have communicated with Syahrial, who at that time was still a suspect by stating that the file for the alleged bribery she had committed was on the table. In addition, she also had time to ask Syahrial to contact a lawyer in Medan named Fahri Aceh to help him.
In addition, this communication was also carried out in relation to the payment of service fees for his sister-in-law, Ruri Prihatini Lubis who works at Tirta Kualo Tanjungbalai Local water company (PDAM). From this communication, the money was finally paid in the amount of IDR 53.334.640 and was repaid in three installments.
Meanwhile, regarding the alleged sale and purchase of positions at the Tanjungbalai City Government, the KPK has appointed Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial and Yusmada. KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto said his party had examined 47 witnesses in this case and confiscated IDR 100 million as evidence.
