Ministry Of Health: 400 Thousand AstraZeneca Vaccines In Jakarta Will Expire In June, Part Of Them Are From Batch CTMAV547
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for COVID-19 Vaccination at the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that around 400.000 AstraZeneca vaccine stocks have been distributed to Jakarta will expire in June 2021.
"There are vaccines that expire in June. Some of them are from the CTMAV547 batch", she said when contacted by telephone in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 9.
The AstraZeneca Batch CTMAV547 vaccine totaled 448.480 doses and was part of the 3.852.000 doses of AstraZeneca received by Indonesia on April 26, 2021, through the Covax Facility/WHO scheme.
The government temporarily suspended its use and distribution in mid-May 2021 after reports emerged of a number of vaccine participants who died allegedly due to Post-Immunization Adverse Events (AEFI).

However, on June 1, 2021, the government resumed the distribution of the AstraZeneca vaccine batch CTMAV547 following the results of the toxicity and sterility test conducted by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) which was declared safe and not related to reports of deaths in Indonesia.
Siti Nadia said the results of the toxicity and sterility tests were BPOM has carried out the AstraZeneca vaccine with the batch number deemed to have met the quality requirements for the use of the vaccine.
The Ministry of Health is encouraging the relevant authorities in DKI Jakarta to immediately use the vaccine which is estimated to have expired in June 2021.
"It is so unfortunate if the vaccine is wasted, the target is already there. We want to protect DKI so that there are no spikes in cases because of the Eid homecoming flow", she said.
Director-General of Disease Prevention and Control at the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, said that currently there are an estimated 400.000 AstraZeneca vaccine supplies in Jakarta, which expire at the end of June 2021.
