Jokowi Calls Unclear Government Programs And Talks About Overlapping Social Assistance Data
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the quality of government program planning must continue to be improved. The reason is until now, there are programs that have no clear measure of success.
"I see that there are still programs that have no clear measure of success. It is not clear what the target is, what kind of budget to target", said Jokowi during the opening of the National Coordination Meeting for Government Internal Supervision which was broadcasted on YouTube at the Presidential Secretariat's channel, Thursday, May 27.
The lack of clarity on these benchmarks is what causes the government's program objectives not to be achieved. In addition, this also makes the development gap between the central and regional governments continues.
"This does not support the achievement of goals and is out of sync with other programs or activities", he said.

Furthermore, Jokowi ordered the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and internal supervisors at ministries, agencies, and regions to oversee all work programs. Including when planning to prevent repetition.
"We are repeating the planning from previous years, so it is not adaptive to today's situation", he said.
"Once again, with this pandemic, disruption, the current wave of change is really real and happens very quickly. So that everyone must adapt to the current wave of change", added the former DKI Jakarta Governor.
Furthermore, Jokowi also asked for problem-solving not only to produce recommendations. He asked that all existing problems be resolved to the root of the problem.
One thing that he talked about was the problem of inaccurate and overlapping social assistance data. As a result of this problem, Jokowi said the distribution of the aid was slow and not on target.
All these problems, he said, must be fixed immediately. "Don't just stop at recommendations, get to the root of the problem", he said.
"So that the same problem does not occur in the following years. It is repeated. You already know that mistakes are repeated every year", he concluded.
