When The Exclusive Burger Made By The Chef Of The Michelin Restaurant Sold Out By Amsterdam Residents
JAKARTA - The COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the economic sector is very much felt by the hotel industry players. The five-star Waldorf Astoria hotel in Amsterdam, Netherlands is no exception.
Without an open living and dining room amidst the COVID-19 restrictions, Waldorf is required to be able to be creative by producing something different. And, the choice fell on a burger creation by the hotel restaurant chef who works for a Michelin star.
Having room rates per night starting from USD 700, this hotel offers a burger menu for take-out orders for USD 23 or approximately IDR 334 thousand.
It is not just a burger, apart from being made by the chef of the hotel restaurant with a guarantee of delicacy from their Michelin stars, all the ingredients for making the burgers are also selected from the best, as well as the spices used.
The hotel manager, which is located on the side of the famous Amsterdam Canal, said Roberto Payer, he and the chefs must find something unique. Including the packaging and the way the packaging is made exclusively, this burger looks elegant.
"The way we do it, the way we prepare it, the way we serve it, the way we pack it to take home is very different from other burgers", Payer told Reuters, Saturday 17 April.
Priced at 19.50 euros or about USD 23 plus shipping via Uber Eats services, the Waldorf Signature Burger is made from a 240-gram Holstein-Frisian patty and served with British Duke of Berkshire bacon on French brioche bread and Dutch cheese.
As a result, this burger is selling well and has received widespread appreciation from the public. Uber Eats reviewers have given it 4.8 stars out of 5. Every week, there are hundreds of orders for this burger, although they haven't been able to compensate for the impact of the prolonged closure of on-site dining under the applicable restrictions.
The executive chef behind this phenomenal burger, Sidney Schutte says, making the perfect burger requires serious research. In normal times, Schutte runs the two Michelin Star 'Spectrum' restaurant in the hotel and does not serve burgers.
"I'm a little nervous. Will it be okay? Definitely, the best burger you can buy here in Amsterdam has to be perfect", he said.
