Not Included in Priority National Legislation Program, Minister of Law Seeks Dialogue with the House of Representatives on Asset Confiscation Bill
JAKARTA - Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said that his party is currently seeking dialogue with parliament to smooth the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill, considering that the bill was not included in the 2025 Priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).
"Now we are conducting dialogue efforts with parliament, with the general chairmen of political parties, so that when President Prabowo Subianto sends a presidential letter to include it in the upcoming Prolegnas, ensuring that it will be guaranteed to be discussed and discussed in parliament," said Supratman as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 20.
According to Supratman, President Prabowo is paying serious attention to the Asset Confiscation Bill. He said that the President is determined to eradicate corruption in the country.
"Later, after he returns from abroad, we will report on the developments related to the existing Prolegnas, and will ask for his views on that. But what is certain is that President Prabowo is very "clear", it can be witnessed, how our law enforcement officers make efforts related to corruption," he said.
The Minister of Law said that the academic paper and the draft of the Asset Confiscation Bill have been completed by the government. However, the House of Representatives (DPR) has not yet given full approval.
"In parliament yesterday, it developed related to issues concerning the title. Friends in the DPR yesterday through the Legislation Body proposed not asset confiscation, but recovery, asset recovery. Then also some of the material contained in it is still resistant," he said.
