Google Play Store Develops Smart Resume Feature, Can Pause App Downloads
JAKARTA Google Play Store will get a new feature that can overcome excessive data depletion. This feature, dubbed Smart Resume, will prevent downloaded applications from scratch.
When the network connection is problematic, the application download on the Play Store will be disrupted. Downloading the application that was previously running will automatically stop. If the user starts downloading again, the application will be downloaded from the start.
Although it doesn't take up more memory storage because the app hasn't been downloaded, user data is definitely drained. If the app only has a capacity of tens of megabytes, it might not be a problem, but it's different if it reaches gigabytes.
Usually, this very large capacity app is a game. Downloads that repeat from scratch are so annoying that Google added a Smart Resume feature in the Google Play Store version 43.5.26-31.

According to Android Authority findings, this application is only visible in the form of code cuts. After further development and release in a stable version, this feature can pause downloads automatically when the user's network connection is problematic.
Smart Resume will download the previously downloaded app and save it within 24 hours. If the user does not continue downloading from this predetermined schedule, the saved file will be deleted and the application must be downloaded from scratch.
To use this feature, users must empty more storage capacity. Users must have more than 5GB of free space and this feature only works on applications and games under 2GB.
