As A Result Of Israel's Destroying Hospitals, WHO Warns North Gaza That Outer Health Crisis Could Be Severe

JAKARTA - The World Health Organization or WHO warned of a "very unusually severe" situation in North Gaza due to Israeli military aggression against health facilities, particularly the latest siege at Kamal Adwan Hospital.

"Reports regarding the damage or destruction of hospital facilities and medical supplies during the siege are regrettable," said WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus via his X social media account, Saturday, October 27.

He noted that 44 male staff members of Kamal Adwan Hospital had been detained by Israeli forces, leaving only female staff, hospital directors, and a male doctor to treat about 200 patients who needed urgent medical treatment.

"Every attack on health facilities is a violation of international humanitarian law," Ghebreyesus said.

Tedros called for an unconditional ceasefire as the only way to protect Gaza's deteriorating health system.

It was reported that Israeli soldiers had withdrawn from Kamal Adwan Hospital after causing severe damage and tremendous destruction around the health facility still functioning in northern Gaza.

Kamal Adwan is one of the few remaining medical centers in North Gaza, where more than 820 Palestinians have been killed in a 22-day military operation by the Gaza government described as a coup of genocide and ethnic cleansing,' according to the Gaza Government's Media Office.

Despite UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel has continued to attack and destroy Gaza since Palestinian resistance group Hamas carried out cross-border attacks last year.

Nearly 43,000 people, mostly women and children, have died, and more than 100,000 others have been injured, according to local health authorities.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court for its brutal actions in Gaza.
