Philippine Fugitive Arrested In Tangerang, Ferdinand Marcos Says Thank You To Indonesia

JAKARTA - Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr thanked the Indonesian government for the help of arresting fugitive Alice Leal Guo in Tangerang on Tuesday night, September 3.

Guo is a former Mayor of Bamban in the Philippines. Marcos emphasized that his officers, assisted by international law enforcers, did not remain silent in pursuing those who fled from the Philippines' legal entanglement.

"Let this serve as a warning to those trying to avoid justice: It was a futile act. The law is long and will reach you," Marcos said on his social media, Wednesday, September 4.

The cave was arrested in Tangerang on Tuesday night, September 3. The Philippine government has requested Guo extradition from the Indonesian government.

The process of submitting extradition has been carried out by the Manila Immigration Bureau and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in coordination with authorities in Indonesia who secured Guo's return.

"As soon as possible [extradition]," said NBI Director Jaime Santiago, quoted by AFP.

A number of cases ensnared Guo before being named a fugitive from the Philippines. He is suspected of being related to online gambling managed by China. I also avoid requests for clarification from the Philippine Senate regarding his involvement in alleged corruption and money laundering in agricultural projects in the Bamban area.
