The National Police deployed 4,730 personnel in the scheme to secure Pope Francis' visit to Indonesia and the International Sustainability Forum (ISF) activities.

Karo PID Divhumas Polri, Brigadier General Tjahyono Saputro said the thousands of personnel were members of Operation Tribrata Jaya 2024 which will start serving from September 2 to 7.

"In this operation, there were 4,730 personnel involved," said Tjahyono to reporters, Friday, August 30.

Thousands of personnel were deployed with details of 1,210 from the National Police Headquarters personnel and 3,520 from the Polda Metro Jaya ranks.

The deployment of large numbers of personnel is due to the holding of a grand mass led by Pope Francis as the leader of the World Catholic Church at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), on Thursday 5 September.

"The implementation of this mass will be attended by nearly 90 thousand Catholics who are present from all over Indonesia," he said.

Still in the security scheme, there will be 6 officers attached later. They are the squad guards who were brought in to secure Pope Francis during the visit.

"The security for Ring 1 was immediately taken from them, there was a squad guard that was attached to them, there were 6 personnel. Repeat, there was a squad guard team that was brought from Mr. Pope Francis' team," said Tjahyono.
