President Putin's Adviser Says Attack On Kursk Means There's No Negotiation With Ukraine Today

Russian President Yuri Ushakov said on Monday Moscow was not ready to hold peace negotiations with Ukraine for now given Kyiv's attack on Russia's Kursk territory, but Russia did not withdraw its previous peace proposal.

Ushakov made the comments in a video statement broadcast by SHOT news outlets.

"At this stage, given this effort (Kursk's attack), we will not speak," Ushakov said.

Ukraine's flash attack, which was the largest attack on Russia by foreign powers since the Second World War, began on August 6 as thousands of Ukrainian troops crossed Russia's western border.

When asked whether the proposal for peace negotiations submitted by Russian President Vladimir Putin in June was no longer submitted, Ushakov said no.

"No, the (proposals) have not been canceled. However, at this point, of course, it is inappropriate to enter any negotiation process," Ushakov explained.

When asked how long Moscow will maintain its stance to delay the prospects for negotiations with Kyiv, Ushakov said:

"I don't know. It will depend on the situation, including on the battlefield."

President Putin said in June that Russia would end.
