PKB Statement Response, PDIP: For Me, Ahok Is Difficult To Compete With Anies

JAKARTA - PDIP DPP chairman Said Abdullah responded to the statement by PKB Deputy Chairman Jazilul Fawaid who said Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok would find it difficult to get party support to run for the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election.

On the contrary, according to Said, the candidate for governor (cagub) for PKB champion Anies Baswedan is difficult to match Ahok.

"When I talk about Ahok, it's also difficult for me, Ahok to be matched by Anies," Said to reporters, Friday, July 19. The member of the East Java electoral district also considered Jazilul's words that he claimed that this was the era of Anies. He even called the composition of Anies-Ahok inappropriate. "It's natural that PKB claims are like that, because Anies is carried by PKB. That's normal, right. And we respect the statement from PKB friends because they are candidates," Said said. According to Said, PDIP has the opportunity to gather strength with other political parties to carry Ahok forward in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. It's just that, he said, PDIP has not communicated this to Ahok and political parties.

"Also give us the opportunity to promote strength with other political parties to say, from the PDI-P, Ahok will, then by itself, Ahok will be shown for contestation in the DKI Pilkada," said Said.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of PKB, Jazilul Fawaid, assessed that Anies Baswedan was not suitable if he was paired with PDIP politicians, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. Jazilul even said, Ahok would find it difficult to get support from other political parties. "What is clear is that the dynamics in DKI is still ongoing. But DPW PKB DKI has proposed Mr. Anies, that then there is another name like Mr. Ahok, it may be difficult, the party that will carry Mr. Ahok," said Jazilul at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 17. "(Many cawagub candidates, ed) Yes, but what is clear is that if Mr. Anies-Ahok doesn't fit, the combination is not right, if Mr. Masinton may fit," he continued with a laugh. According to Jazilul, it is currently Anies' momentum to advance as an incumbent. Moreover, he said, Anies' survey has not yet beaten Jakarta.

"Right now, Mr. Anies' era, and the survey also remains to wait for the final discourse. Because DKI is definitely influenced by national political constalations," said Jazilul.
