Two of the seven suspected perpetrators of the brawl on Jalan Kemanggisan Jaya 65, Palmerah, West Jakarta, were arrested by the police. They were arrested along with evidence in the form of sharp weapons, which he deliberately brought to carry out a brawl, Tuesday, July 16.
"Those who do not have a knife according to the law are only 1 24 hours, if there is a 3-times24-hour (detention) knife. This means that two can be detained. If the five are sent home, their parents will pick them up," said Palmerah Police Chief Kompol Sugiran, Wednesday, July 17.
The detention was carried out based on Emergency Law number 12 of 1951 concerning the suspicion of carrying a stabbing weapon with a threat of 10 years in prison.
Sugiran said the perpetrators were mostly teenagers. From their hands the police confiscated two sickles and Molotov cocktails and other evidence.
According to Sugiran, many of the perpetrators carried sharp weapons when the brawl occurred, but only two perpetrators were found carrying sharp weapons.
"However, we confiscated only two pieces of evidence, they threw away sharp weapons," he said.
The perpetrators, continued Sugiran, threw sharp weapons into several flower pots and ditches around the location of the brawl.

In addition, four brawlers apparently came from the Bogor area, West Java and deliberately went to the Kemanggisan area to carry out the action.
Sugiran also suspected that the four perpetrators were gang members.
"Yes, I don't admit (wanting a brawl), claiming to play. From Bogor, I think it's a gang member," he said.
Furthermore, he said, one of the seven perpetrators was still in school.
"One is still in school. If you are still in school, usually the school comes here with a letter. That means, if he repeats it again, the principal will find out, it will be issued," said Sugiran.
