Case Of Youth Confinement At Cafe Duren Sawit Area, Police Check Witnesses Gradually

JAKARTA - A young man with the initials MRR (23) became a victim of confinement at a cafe in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta, for three months. The development of the handling, the police are still conducting a series of witness examinations.

"Yes, the update is still ongoing. It's still being investigated," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters, Friday, July 12.

However, it was not clearly conveyed about the parties who had or would be examined in handling the case.

It is only conveyed when the examination process for witnesses who are aware of the occurrence of confinement is carried out in stages.

The examination process is also so that investigators find strong evidence related to the occurrence of a criminal act of confinement or seizing someone's independence.

"The examination is still being carried out in stages, clarification is still being carried out," said Ade.

Recently, the alleged case of confinement of the MRR was handled by the East Jakarta Metro Police.

The case is based on debt. Starting from MRR, who had borrowed a sum of money from H, who was the reported party.

"So initially the reporter or victim was MRRP's brother, MRRP, about October 2023 used H's money," said Ade.

Over time, MRR never returned the money. H and his colleagues also took certain action, namely holding the young man captive.

"Then the reporter was unable to return it and finally the reporter felt held captive because he was not allowed to leave the place from February 19-May 30, 2024," said Ade.
