The Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Asks Rudenim Officers To Invite Foreigners To Communicate With Immigrant Prisoners
JAKARTA - The Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has asked employees who work at the Kupang Immigrant Detention Center (Rudenim) to always invite immigrants to communicate.
"They often invite them to talk so they feel cared for," said Head of the NTT Kemenkumham Regional Office Marciana D Jone while reviewing foreign nationals (WNA) who were accommodated at the Kupang Rudenim, Friday, July 12, as reported by Antara.
While visiting foreigners from Banglades and Myanmar who were detained at the Kupang Rudemin, Marciana had a chance to chat with the immigrants by asking where their country came from and the beginning of their departure until they were arrested by the authorities on the Indonesian border of Australia.
Marciana asked the foreigners to follow the procedure of the examination as it should so that the process was fast and answered honestly all questions related to their origin.
"This will make it easier for the repatriation process later," he said.
According to Marciana, the immigrants are victims so it needs to be considered and they are still given food three times a day.
"If someone is sick, the officer should check and provide treatment according to their rights, so it remains safe to be in Kupang during the examination process," he said.
Currently, the number of foreigners who are accommodated in the Kupang Rudenim is 55 people, with details of 44 Bangladesh and Myanmar foreigners, seven foreigners from China and four foreigners from Nigeria.
Especially for Chinese foreigners, they are currently in the process of being investigated for repatriation to their home countries.
