YouTube Wants To Make An AI Agreement With Music Record Label

JAKARTA Last year, YouTube tested Dream Track to create music in a style from a certain artist. This collaboration feature with Google DeepMind uses a generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). Although this feature has been introduced and is being tested, YouTube seems to want to create other experiments that require approval of a music record label. This video platform wants to clone more musicians using its AI tools. Reporting from the Financial Times, YouTube offers cash in great nominal to Universal Music Group (UMG), Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Records. YouTube wants to use songs from musicians to train AI musical instruments. The company does not disclose the nominal amount they offer to the three music record labels. Most likely, the amount that is ready to be paid is not based on royalties and only paid once. YouTube had told the Financial Times that they had no plans to expand Dream Track. If YouTube succeeds in agreeing with the three record labels, they would like to release their AI musical instrument by the end of this year.

There is no picture of what kind of musical instrument YouTube will develop. However, this plan requires effort because not all labels like AI technology. Like Sony Music, for example, they don't want their musicians' songs to be used illegally for AI. UMG also had problems with TikTok because the platform did not provide protection related to the circulation of AI-generated music. Both record labels and artists believe that AI violates and demeans the rights of musicians.
