The Perpetrator Of The Burning House In Grogol Claims To Be Annoyed By His Wife

JAKARTA - The Grogol Petamburan Police managed to uncover the fire cases of a number of semi-permanent houses and pedestrian bridges (JPO) on Jalan Semeru Raya, RT 04/10, Grogol Petamburan District (Gropet), West Jakarta.

After a series of investigations, it turned out that the fire incident came from a man's intentional arson.

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police also managed to arrest the perpetrator of the arson with the initials AS alias Belo (39).

The Head of the Grogol Petamburan Police, Kompol Muharram Wibisono, stated that the modus operandi of the perpetrator with the initials AS who also lives at the location deliberately burned his wife's long-standing clothes using a blue gas lighter.

After burning his wife's clothes later, the perpetrator left the house to find his long-standing wife's whereabouts.

"The motive was because the perpetrator was angry that his wife had been left behind for 2 months. So the perpetrator burned his wife's clothes which resulted in the fire," said Kompol Muharram when confirmed, Wednesday, June 26.

Furthermore, Kompol Muharram explained, the incident was discovered when the complainant who was about to sleep heard screams from local residents regarding the fire.

The reporter, who was a neighbor of the perpetrator's house, then left the house and saw that the fire was already big next to his house. The fire had burned Belo's house.

Furthermore, the complainant tried to save himself while waiting for the fire department to arrive.

In fact, another witness explained that the suspect had spoken to himself while walking and said "Look at it... my room," said the perpetrator before the fire grew bigger and caused four houses to catch fire.

As a result of the incident, the victims suffered considerable material losses. Furthermore, the perpetrator returned to his burnt house.

Receiving this information, members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police immediately rushed to the location to secure the perpetrators. Officers also secured several pieces of evidence, including three units of burnt wood cash, one net to cover the fan, one six-inch speaker unit, and one blue gas lighter.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 187 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.

Previously, it was reported that the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said the victims and the number of losses in the fire incident that occurred in a densely populated residential area on Jalan Semeru Ujung, Grogol Village, Grogol Petamburan District, West Jakarta on Thursday morning, June 20, were still being collected.

"The object caught fire to the semi-permanent house building of around 8 houses and JPO," said Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Isnawa Adji to VOI, Thursday, June 20.

However, Isnawa has not been able to explain further regarding the cause of the fire that hit dense settlements and spread to public facilities for pedestrian bridges (JPO).
