Record Profit Record Of IDR 81 Trillion, Emirates Group Shares Bonuse 20 Week Salary

JAKARTA - Good news comes for Emirates Group employees, which includes Dubai-based airlines and land management units, United Arab Emirates (UAE), as the company plans to distribute a bonus of 20 weeks of salaries for those who qualify, after the company recorded a profit record for the financial year ending March 31.

The bonus will be included in the May payroll, following the group's record second-year consecutive profit, having managed to bounce back from the global slowdown in air travel caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The airline posted a record profit of 18.7 billion UAE dirhams (Rp 81,278,556,581,200), soaring 71 percent Year on Year, the company said on Monday, reported The National News May 13.

Group revenue increased 15 percent on an annual basis to a record 137.3 billion UAE dirhams (Rp596,767,156,074,800), driven by strong customer demand across its business, he said.

This is the second year in a row Emirates announced a huge bonus for its staff. More than 50,000 of its employees received 24 weeks of salary in May 2023.

"The business prospects are positive, with a strong and sustainable projection of demand for international air transportation and travel," said Chairman and Chief Executive Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum in a statement.

"As usual, we will continue to monitor costs and external factors such as oil prices, currency fluctuations, and volatile environments," he said.

It said the company's workforce grew 10 percent to a record 112,406 employees, along with airlines and administrators continuing to hire staff around the world to support operational expansion and improve capabilities in the future.

The group is also working on recruiting thousands of cabin crew, pilots, engineers, customer service agents, IT workers, and other specialists from around the world to drive its growth ambitions.
