Alumni And UIN Professor Urge President Jokowi To Be Neutral
TANGERANG A number of alumni and academic community UIN Syarif Hidayatullah urged Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to be neutral in the implementation of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).
Professor Saiful Mujani assessed that President Jokowi as head of state should be neutral and not use his power for the benefit of the family.
"Urges the President to seriously manage the government for the sake and for the national interest," Saiful told reporters at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Ciputat, South Tangerang, Monday, January 5.
"Not for the sake of family or group on behalf of national interests," he continued.
He also explained that his attitude was not just a political choice. However, his policies ultimately benefit certain parties, especially for candidate pairs (paslon).

"Especially not making policies that can benefit electorally for certain candidate pairs," he said.
Saiful is worried that state democracy will continue to drag on with the interests of the family. Because for him, it will create instability in elections in Indonesia.
"This situation can not only have an impact on national government services, but also create non-solidity and comfort for cabinet members. If the situation continues like this, it is feared that it could cause national instability," he concluded.
