Strengthening At The Beginning Of The Year, High HBA Kalori Set 125.85 US Dollars Per Ton
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) issued the latest decree regarding the price of reference coal (HBA) in January 2024.
In January, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources recorded a significant increase from the previous month's HBA.
First, HBA in the equity value of 6,322 kcal/kg GAR, total motion 12.26 percent, total sulphur 0.66 percent, and ash 7.94 percent are subject to a price of 125.85 US dollars per ton or strengthen from December 2023 which is priced at 117.38 US Dollars per ton.
Second, for HBA I with an equal calorie value of 5,300 kcal/kg GAR, a total motion of 21.32 percent, sulphur 0.75 percent, and Ash 6.04 percent rose to 87,36 US dollars per tonne compared to December of 85,92 US dollars per ton.
Next, for HBA II with an equal calorie value of 4,100 kcal/kg GAR, a total motion of 35.73 percent, sulphur 0.23 percent, and Ash 3.90 percent was observed to increase to 58.56 US dollars per ton from the previous month 57.70 US dollars per ton.

Finally, for HBA III with an equal calorie value of 3,400 kcal/kg GAR, a total motion of 44.30 percent, sulphur 0.24 percent, and Ash 3.88 percent, priced at 37.09 US dollars per ton from the previous month amounting to 34.18 US dollars per ton.
The determination of the HBA formula in principle aims to obtain the HBA received by the market taking into account state revenues.
This consideration is the basis for issuing regulations related to prices based on market mechanisms.
HBA was formed from the average realization of coal selling prices two months earlier, with a proportion of 70 percent of the price realization one month earlier.
