Police Investigate Cause Of Explosion Of CNG Gas Cylinder That Killed 2 People In Sukabumi

Cibadak Police Chief Kompol Ridwan Ishak said his party involved a team of experts to reveal the cause of the explosion of a compressed natural gas cylinder (CNG) which was being carried by a truck on Jalan Raya Lodaya, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

"We do not yet know why this CNG tube could explode, of course, to reveal the occurrence of the explosion, it must involve experts," said Cibadak Police Chief, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 27.

According to Ridwan, initially there was illegal information that stated that the trigger for the CNG tube explosion was a series of collisions on Jalan Karangtengah Village, Cibadak District.

However, after being investigated, it turned out that the tube containing gas to process tea leaves exploded on its own. In addition, his party also could not confirm whether the explosion was triggered by a leak of the tube.

"There were two tubes that exploded, then bounced into the air, one tube fell in a resident's garden and the other hit a passing car. We also confirmed that there were no casualties from the police even though at that time there were a number of personnel who were regulating the flow of traffic not far from the location of the explosion," he added.

As a result of the CNG tube explosion, said Ridwan, eight people were victims, and two of them died male and female.

Meanwhile, the other six are still undergoing intensive care at the Sekarwangi Hospital in Cibadak.
