141 Damaged Houses Hit By Tornadoes In Bandung Regency
A total of 141 houses were damaged by a tornado in Baleendah District, Bandung Regency, West Java, when heavy rains hit the area.
Baleendah Police Chief Kompol Tedi Rusman said the incident occurred on Monday (5/6) evening at around 17.00 WIB in three urban villages, namely Rancamanyar Village, Bojongmalaka Village, and Andir Village.
"Currently, the local government, especially in Baleendah District, has contacted BPBD yesterday to make efforts to handle it," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 6.
His party noted that so far the worst affected areas are Bojongmalaka Village. In that area, he said, there were as many as 110 houses that were damaged.
"Then in Andir Village there are 20 houses, and in Rancamanyar there are around 11 houses. In total there are around 141 houses," he said.
The majority of the residents' houses suffered damage to the roof of the house. Due to strong winds, according to him, the roof or canopy of residents' houses in the area flew.
"If the building itself collapsed, several houses were slightly broken down," he said.
Currently, he said, the assistance needed by the residents was to clean up the rubble of scattered building materials. According to him, some residents were forced to flee to their neighbors or relatives because the house was damaged.

"It takes tarpaulins, because the houses are leaking, I'm afraid it will rain again. If the heavy equipment is not yet, at least the wood cutting tool," he said.
Meanwhile, Bojongmalaka Village Head Dedi Darmawan confirmed that there were no casualties even though the area was the worst affected. However, according to him, there was a child who suffered minor injuries due to critical fractions.
"On average, the damage was on the roofs of houses such as canopy, house walls, roof tiles, asbestos, that's what was flying," said Dedi Dammawan.
