Golovkin: If Canelo Says He Wants To Break Me, That's A Huge Bonus To All The Fans

JAKARTA - Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez appeared at a press conference three days after their tense encounter in Los Angeles last Friday.

The two boxers have been more amicable and have avoided continuing the tension ahead of the fight that will take place on September 17 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

This promising fight will be the third and final volume of the trilogy between the two men.

"I've said a lot of things and I will never say that I didn't say what I said [in the past]", Golovkin was quoted as saying by Marca on Wednesday.

"But I believe that it's an amazing fight for me, it's an incredible fight for the world of boxing and I don't think that we have a personal rivalry.

"But September 17 is coming, and whatever our unfinished business is, we're going to meet each other in the ring and sort it out.

"If he says he wants to destroy me, that's a huge bonus for everyone, all the fans, the boxing fans. It will be an amazing fight not only for me and him but also for all boxing fans. We will take everything to the next level. This is the best fight in boxing. This is my dream."

Meanwhile, Canelo stressed that he didn't mean to say anything disrespectful to lure more audiences ahead of the fight with Golovkin.

"As always: I like to respect my opponents when they respect me", said Canelo.

"I don't have to do this kind of thing to sell pay-per-view. I don't. I've always had respect, but this time it's going to be different and here I am."
