Monitoring Using Satellites, BMKG Finds 2 Hotspots In North Sumatra

NORTH SUMATRA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said there were two hotspots monitored in the North Sumatra (North Sumatra) region.

This is based on the monitoring of Modis Sensors, namely the Tera, Aqua, SNPP and NOAA20 Satellites. Two hotspots in North Labuhanbatu Regency, namely in Kwaluh Hulu and Aek Natas sub-districts, North Labuhanbatu Regency.

BMKG forecaster WIlayah I Medan, Lestari Irene Purba explained, in general, the Sumatra Island area was still monitored at 1,441 hotspots.

The most hotspots were observed in South Sumatra (998), followed by Lampung (189), Bangka Belitung (105), Jambi (74), West Sumatra (48), Bengkulu (5) and North Sumatra (2), and Riau (20).

The weather in North Sumatra on Friday, October 6 afternoon and evening, he said, has the potential to rain with light to heavy intensity in almost all areas of North Sumatra.

The potential for rain is occurring in the areas of Langkat, Binjai, Karo, Dairi, Pakpak Bharat, Humbang Hasundutan, Asahan, Deli Serdang, Simalungun, North Tapanuli, Samosir, Toba, Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, Padang Lawas, Mandailing Natal and its surroundings

At night there is also the potential for rain with light to heavy intensity in the areas of Langkat, Binjai, Medan, Deli Serdang, Karo, Dairi, Pakpak Bharat, Humbang Hasundutan, Sibolga, Central Tapanuli, Simalungun, Pematang Siantar, Asahan, Samosir, Toba, North Tapanuli, Padang Sidempuan, Padang Lawas, South Tapanuli, and surrounding areas.

The average air temperature is 17-34 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 60-98 percent and the wind blows from the southeast-southwest at a speed of 10-30 kilometers per hour.
