Take Advantage Of Drone Cameras, Police Comb Illegal Mining In Southeast Sulawesi

SULTRA - The Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda) again held a mining patrol as a form of commitment to eradicate illegal mining activities in the Bumi Anoa area.

Head of Sub-Directorate IV of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Sultra Police Commissioner Ronald Arron Maramis said the mining patrol this time was carried out in the Torobulu Village area, Laeya District, South Konawe Regency.

"This mining patrol operation was led by PS Kanit 2 Sub-Directorate IV Tipidter Ditreskrimsus Polda Sultra Iptu Ridwan along with several other personnel," Ronald said when contacted in Kendari, Friday, October 6, as reported by Antara.

In addition to personnel from the Ditreskrimsus Polda Sultra, his party also involved one person from the mining inspector in the patrol activity.

"One by one the mining locations in the area are combed by personnel to ensure that there are no more illegal mining activities," he said.

He mentioned that during the patrol, officers went directly to several Mining Business Permits (IUPs) that had died or had long been abandoned by their owners and carried out air monitoring using drone cameras.

"The team went directly to the dead IUP locations that had long been abandoned, such as PT Triple Eight Energi, PT Sambas Minerals Mining and PT Kembar Emas Sultra. To monitor whether there was activity at that location, we also monitored from the air using drones," said Ronald.

From the results of these patrols, officers did not find any illegal mining activities in Torobulu Village or in IUP areas that died and had long been abandoned.

"There was no more activity found in some of the dead IUPs. As evidence, we have documented them," he added.

He explained that officers also visited the mining location of PT Wijaya Inti Nusantara (WIN), which was recently questioned. The results of monitoring at the location, officers did not find any activity in the PT WIN IUP area.

"Our team has also gone down to the location where PT WIN checks and ensures whether there is a violation or not. However, it has not been concluded because we will still coordinate further with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," he said.
