North Sumatra Police Failed To Smuggle Methamphetamine At Kualanamu Airport

MEDAN - Personnel from Sub-Directorate 1 of the Directorate (Dit) of Drug Research at the North Sumatra Police thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,04 kg of methamphetamine through Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.

"The disclosure of the smuggling of narcotics from the Aceh - Jakarta network began with the North Sumatra Police Narcotics Directorate Team by arresting two perpetrators, namely MD and El, who were arrested right at X-Ray 2 at the airport departure gate (25/9)," said North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Setyadi Medan as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 27.

After a search, three plastic packages containing methamphetamine were found in the right shoe and three plastic packages in the left shoe.

"Two people were arrested by officers, one of the perpetrators while hiding in one of the airport waiting room toilets," he said.

Hadi said that when examined, the EI perpetrator admitted that the evidence of methamphetamine had been thrown into the toilet trash can at the crime scene (TKP).

The Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, explained that the two perpetrators would carry narcotics type methamphetamine to Jakarta using a plane from Kualanamu Airport.

"Currently, North Sumatra Police investigators are developing," said Hadi.
