15 Indonesian Citizens Suspected Of Intergroup Brawl In Taiwan Get Assistance From The Indonesian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs

JAKARTA A total of 15 suspects from Indonesian citizens (WNI) involved in brawls between groups of fighters in Taiwan will receive assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The right of every suspect, even though it is wrong. We will still provide assistance for them," said the Directorate of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nugroho Y Aribhimo as quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 17.

According to him, the handling of cases of brawls between groups of pesilat from Indonesia has entered the investigation stage by Taiwan law enforcement.

The 15 suspects have also been transferred to the Changhua District Prosecutor's Office for investigation on charges of murder, assault and participating in deadly fights.

"Meanwhile, for other information, we will provide updates from (Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Red)," he said.

He ensured that in this case his party would still handle and provide assistance to the suspects.

In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also routinely monitor to provide care to the victims involved in the fight incident.

"The victim is injured, one person has started to improve. But for those in the legal process, we are collaborating with the Police and the Canghaua Prosecutor's Office," he said.

However, due to the disputes carried out by the two pesilat groups, his party also requested that Indonesian citizens (WNI) living in Taiwan and within the country be able to maintain conduciveness.

"So there is no revenge, because the state representatives always mediate with the warring parties there. And now both parties have reconciled," he said.

Meanwhile, the bodies of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who were victims of a brawl between groups of fighters in Taiwan, Saturday (2/9), arrived in the country via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Banten.

In returning the bodies of the victims of the brawl, their identities were identified, namely Jaenal Fanani, from Telgalek, East Java, with the profession of being a manufacturing worker in Taiwan.

Jaenal's body was transported using the Cathay Pacific commercial aircraft flight number CX 797 on the Jakarta route which landed on Saturday (16/9) at around 23.00 WIB at the Soetta Airport Cargo Terminal on Sunday morning.

In addition to the victims of the brawl in Taiwan, at the repatriation there were also three PMI coffins with their identities, namely Suryani, from East Java, Lustianah, from Lampung and Yana Mulyana, a resident from West Java.

Head of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani in Tangerang, said that in total, there were four PMIs who had been repatriated from Taiwan. And all of these were directly facilitated by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) together with BP2MI.
