The Central Bangka Regency Environment Agency (DLH) reminded residents to increase awareness of fire disasters.

Head of Central Bangka DLH Ari Yanuar Prihatin said the fire was vulnerable considering the dry dry dry dry dry season due to El Nino.

"We are in the dry season, the fire is very prone to happening, so I ask residents to be vigilant and take anticipatory measures," he said in Koba, Central Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Tuesday, September 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the dry season that hit as a result of the El Nino phenomenon also made forest areas and plantation land dry so that they were prone to fire.

"There are several hotspots, namely along the Tertang Village highway to Kurau Village because the area is lost and peat," he said.

According to him, tens of hectares of land along Tertang and Kurau, which are located not far from the mangrove forest and the beachbank, have been burned.

"This area is very prone to fire in the event of a dry season, this must be watched out for because it is on the side of a public road that could endanger road users," he said.

He appealed to farmers not to carry out activities to burn agricultural land because the fire could spread to burn forest areas on a large scale.

"The forest is very dry, stop burning the land first and I also remind residents not to throw cigarette butts carelessly and burn piles of garbage because it can risk spreading which will have bad consequences burning residential areas," he said.

His party has issued an early warning against fires in forest and land areas this dry season and asked residents to remain alert.

"Especially residents who live in densely populated areas and residents' houses in the forest area are not far away, are more alert to fires at this location point because it is very difficult to control," said Ari.
