JAKARTA - Many people are ticketed because their vehicles did not pass the emission test. Polda Metro Jaya suggested that they take anticipatory steps by bringing their vehicles to the workshop.

The enforcement of emission tests in the form of ticketing has been implemented as of today, Friday, September 1, 2023.

"I hope that the public has also anticipated that they will come to the existing workshop to conduct an emission test so that the vehicle is suitable for use or not," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Latif Usman to reporters.

According to him, decisive steps by ticketing motorists who did not pass the emission test were not bad. However, it is solely for the common interest.

This step was implemented to reduce pollution which is now a problem in Jakarta.

"Our activities are not only for the benefit of individuals but for all because this is a problem of pollution, the goal is that," said Latif.

Meanwhile, the first day of the implementation of the emission test ticket was held at five points, namely on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, East Jakarta; Jalan RE Martadinata, North Jakarta; Taman Anggrek, West Jakarta; Blok M Terminal, South Jakarta; and Jalan Asia Afrika, Central Jakarta.

Vehicles that do not pass the emission test will be subject to fines in the form of fines ranging from Rp. 250 thousand to Rp. 500 thousand. For 2-wheeled vehicles, a fine of Rp. 250 thousand is imposed. Meanwhile, 4-wheeled vehicles amounted to Rp. 500 thousand.

The amount of the fine is regulated in accordance with Article 285 Paragraph 1 and Article 276 of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ).
