Plumbon River Land Exemption For Normalization Overcoming Semarang Floods Still Waiting For The Center

SEMARANG - The Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Semarang City, Central Java, said that steps to land acquisition for the normalization of the Plumbon River are still waiting for the DED (detail engineering design) from the center.

"The plan is yes this year. Maybe later in (APBD) changes. The 'planning' is done, only DED from the center," said Semarang City DPRD Chairman Kadarlusman as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 9.

For the Beringin River in the area, which was once often overflowing, he said, now it has been overcome with normalization and only has a few tens of meters left.

"The one in the Beringin River, Alhamdulillah, has been resolved. Only a few are in the second stage. Only a few tens of meters. What must be resolved in the near future is the Plumbon River," he said.

He admitted that he did not know the progress of the DED prepared by the central government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) regarding the normalization of the Plumbon River.

"(Progres, red) DED has not been monitored, but the information is from the Minister (Minister of PUPR, ed) at that time this year," he said.

The Plumbon River normalization project is indeed handled by the central government, but land acquisition is the responsibility of the Semarang City Government.

Therefore, he said, the normalization of the Plumbon River DED is needed to see the extent of the normalization and the affected land that must be acquired.

"We have communicated with the Mayor. Hopefully in this change (APBD), or waiting for DED. So, how much (hand,

With DED's clarity, he said, the budget could be prepared immediately to be submitted to the 2023 Semarang City Revised APBD, while waiting for socialization steps to the public.

Flood management is a priority for the Semarang City Government program in line with the large number of settlements affected by flooding at the beginning of last year, one of which was due to overflowing rivers.

Apart from Mangkang due to the overflow of the Plumbon River, flooding also occurred in a number of other settlements, such as the Dinar Indah Housing due to the overflowing of the Pengkol River which leads to the Babon River.
