The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has demanded the death of the defendant Dodhy Adreanto Sidabalok alias Dodi in the case of a marijuana drug courier weighing 135 kilograms.
"Asking the panel of judges to sentence Dodhy Adreanto Sidablok alias Dodi to the death penalty," said North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office Maria Fr Tarigan at the Medan District Court (PN) as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 26.
He said, based on the facts of the trial that the defendant had fulfilled the elements of committing a criminal act that violated Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
The essence of the article, said Maria, is to commit or participate in committing a criminal act, without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become an intermediary in buying and selling, exchanging or delivering narcotics class I of marijuana weighing 135 kilograms.
"The aggravating thing is that the defendant's actions do not support the government's program, while there are no mitigating factors," he said.
After reading the memorandum of demand, the panel of judges chaired by Sayed Tarmizi continued the trial scheduled for next week with a memorandum of defense (pledoi) from the defendant's legal adviser or defendant.
