PT KAI Presents A New Generation Economic Train At The Jayabaya Train

SURABAYA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) presents a new generation of economic trains that are starting to operate in the Jayabaya train by reducing the number of seats to 72 seats, so that the passenger's space is wider.

KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Public Relations Manager Luqman Arif said the previous generation's economic train had a capacity of 106 seats in 3-2 formations, upright backs and face to face.

In addition, he continued, in the new generation, the type of seat already uses the container seat type which makes customers more comfortable when leaning and can be adjusted to the slope (reclining) and can be adjusted to the direction of the train or face-to-face (revolving).

"KAI would like to thank loyal customers who have given a lot of criticism, suggestions and input for sustainable improvements in KAI services in all lines. One of them is through the modification of the New Generation Economic Train," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 25.

Luqman explained that increased modifications were also made to the train interior with the Public Information Display System (PIDS) added which could display clocks and temperatures.

"The interior of the train is modified similar to the executive train, such as the shape of the trunk and the feel of a brighter interior, including toilets with more luxurious nuances and using sitting toilets. There is also a place of worship on the restoration train," he said.

With the operation of the New Generation Economic Train, he said, the Jayabaya train's stamformation became four executive trains (K1), five new generation economic trains (K3 NG) and one generating train (MP3).

"The New Generation Economic Train is the result of modifications carried out by KAI at Balai Yasa Manggarai, currently there are 12 economic trains that have been successfully modified at Balai Yasa Manggarai since April 2023," he said.

Not only that, the launch of the New Generation economic train is also part of the series of KAI's 78th Anniversary which falls on September 28 with the theme "With the Spirit of Unity, Towards a New KAI, For an Advanced Indonesia".

"KAI will continue to increase the number of train modifications so that more train facilities are increased in comfort. Hopefully, public interest will increase to use safe, comfortable, safe, safe and timely rail mass transportation," said Luqman.
