Online Gambling Custody, Men In Jember Sell Their Parents' Land To Trick Neighbors

JEMBER - A man in Jember, East Java had to deal with the police for selling parental land and deceiving his own neighbor. The crime was committed by a man named Ivan Tri Pradana because he was addicted to online gambling.

Ivan Tri Pradana, who is a resident of Tanjungrejo Village, Wuluhan District, is desperate to sell the only asset, namely the land that his mother still occupies to his neighbor Kuswito.

The Head of the Wuluhan Police, AKP Solikhan Arief explained that the perpetrator, who is the sole heir, sold his parents' land to Kuswito with a down payment of IDR 50 million. Ivan sold the land for online gambling capital.

Apparently, Ivan sold the land to another party at a higher price. Knowing that the land was resold by the perpetrator, the victim asked for a down payment of Rp. 50 million to be returned immediately. However, the perpetrator only made a sweet promise to the victim.

"The victim asked for a down payment of Rp 50 million, but in the last few months it has only been promised not to be returned to the victim," said Arief last Thursday.

This case was mediated by the village head. However, Ivan still did not fulfill his promise to pay off debts to the victim until they were finally reported to the police.

When questioned by the police, Ivan admitted that the money he received from Kuswito was used for online gambling capital.

"The perpetrator needs money because of online gambling addiction," said Arief.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 378 in conjunction with Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning fraud and embezzlement with a maximum threat of 4 years in prison.
