Jakarta's COVID-19 Management Archives Made Historical Records

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to make the archives for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic a historical record. This starts with the socialization of the rescue of archives for handling COVID-19 held by the DKI Jakarta Province Library and Archives Service (Disputip).

Head of DKI Jakarta Disputip, Firmansyah, said that efforts to save archives for handling the COVID-19 virus were collected from all archival creators on regional and BUMD devices within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

All over Indonesia, not only Jakarta, is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In handling it, there is a program in all relevant agencies. For this reason, this is part of the process of dealing with disease outbreaks that have cycles, so we save the archives of how each institution in the Provincial Government, both OPD and BUMD, did what," said Firman at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, September 21.

According to Firman, the COVID-19 response documents collected have value for historical information for the survival of the nation, both in the region and nationally in order to realize archives as a collective memory of the nation.

Apart from being a memory, the set of pandemic prevention archives that occurred from March 2020 to June 2023 will be a guide or clue if there is another major disease outbreak such as the transmission of the corona virus.

"We must have a collective memory of each OPD and BUMD and what the community is doing, we meet as consolidated documents and memory which is a guide for the next generation," said Firman.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Library and Archives Service is confirmed to be ready to provide guidance and assistance to all Regional Apparatus and Regional Owned Enterprises in rescuing the COVID-19 Archives.

"Later, we will compile everything so that we don't wait for the 10-year archive retention because this is a part that we have to collect faster. This document is important so that we don't forget the strategy for handling COVID and its victims, this is a tactical guide on how to deal with a pandemic like this," explained Firman.

Meanwhile, Assistant to the People's Welfare of the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta Province, Widyastuti, said that the pandemic is a very rare event because it occurs every 100 years.

"It's a shame that if it is not documented properly, we leave historical records not only documentation but to be a good lesson for how the nation and Jakarta are able to bring their citizens to the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. All become a common thread that synergizes well which is very important for the journey of a nation," said Widyastuti.
