Brad Binder's Testimony About The Terrible Incident With Francesco Bagnaia At The Barcelona Catalunya Circuit
JAKARTA - A terrible incident occurred on the first lap of the Catalunya MotoGP, Sunday 3 September. Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia fell and his leg was crushed by a KTM motorbike driven by Brad Binder.
Pecco, Bagnaia's nickname, had a highside accident after he passed the second corner during the first lap. The incident made him thrown from the motorbike and sprawled on the track.
At the same time, Brad Binder, who was riding a KTM motorbike at high speed, crossed and grabbed Bagnaia's leg. Binder says he's devastated by what happened but says he didn't see anything when he crossed Pecco's crash site.
"When I left Turn 2, I didn't see anything. Until I saw Pecco and his motorbike in the middle of the track," Binder opened about the incident as reported by Crash, Monday, September 4.
"Then I touched something on the motorbike. I was shaking trying to avoid it, but I felt like I ran over his leg or something. I don't really know," continued the KTM racer.
Binder admits that the situation unfolded so quickly that his mind was racing. He felt very guilty if something happened to Bagnaia, but fortunately, all his feelings were denied.
"Thank goodness I saw him (Pecco) move. He's obviously injured but seems fine," said Binder.

This incident made Pecco have to end the race faster because he had to be rushed to the medical center. While Binder tagged along when the race was repeated. Unfortunately, this racer from South Africa actually experienced technical problems with his motorbike.
"I came back and started the race again. At first it was fine, I had to try and increase the temperature, I did that. Then we had a technical problem," he said.
Binder, who was unable to continue racing, finally decided to immediately meet Bagnaia. Binder felt relieved and surprised because the Ducati rider was fine and more relaxed than he had imagined.
"I went to see Pecco. He seems fine. It's every motorist's worst nightmare. Seeing someone there is scary but to be honest being the one to run into him is way worse," said a worried Binder.
"Honestly, when I walked in there, I didn't expect to see him that relaxed! He seemed fine!" he concluded.
