WhatsApp Soon to Bring Voice Chat Feature Similar to Twitter Space
JAKARTA - WhatsApp is trying to overtake Twitter Space by presenting the Voice Chat feature for group participants and removing limitations in voice calls in the application.
First reported by WABetaInfo, quoted Tuesday, August 8, group participants can send individual voice messages whenever they want.
Unlike a phone call, starting a Voice Chat will not hide the phone and all users get a silent push notification when a chat is established in their group, as opposed to a full incoming call ringtone that is visible for group calls.
The icon in the group will also show a small thumbnail representing the voice chat in the chats list. WABetaInfo says Voice Chat is available for groups with 32 participants or more, this configuration may vary depending on the user.
Furthermore, once the Voice Chat takes place, the feature will be end-to-end encrypted like all services present on WhatsApp.

If Voice Chat remains empty or no one joins, the feature will automatically end after 60 minutes, but participants can restart if needed.
It should be noted, this Voice Chat on WhatsApp can only be accessed by certain groups. Currently, the new feature is available to some beta testers running WhatsApp beta Android 2.23.16.19 and it is claimed to be rolling out to more users in the coming days.
