JAKARTA - Timothee Chalamet's appearance as Wonka can be seen in the first trailer released today, Wednesday, July 12. The figure of Willy Wonka, a chocolate maker and his adventures in realizing his dreams can be seen in this trailer.

Willy Wonka is said to want to have his own chocolate. He traveled for seven years until he arrived in Europe. But the struggle was hindered when Wonka met with a brown cartel.

Wonka was told he couldn't have a shop without selling chocolate but he couldn't sell chocolate without owning his own shop. One day, he meets a kid and promises to make his life better.

"Every good thing in the world starts with a dream," said the mother that Willy Wonka remembered.

The trailer ends with Willy Wonka meeting the Oompa Loompa, played by Hugh Grant. Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, Rowan Atkinson, and Sally Hawkins are also seen in the trailer.

Adapted from the classic story by Road Dahl, for the first time Wonka has his own film. Previously, Wonka's character was seen in the films Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2014).

The Wonka film, played by Timothee Chalamet, has a background story before the 1971 film where the character Wonka is played by Gene Wilder. This film is directed by Paul King who worked on the Chilean film franchise.

"(Timothee Chalamet) follows in the footsteps of those who have played the character and I think he brought his character to life," Paul King said of the main actor.

One of the most anticipated titles, Wonka is scheduled to air on December 15, 2023.
