Ganjar Pranowo Sebut Komunikasi dengan Airlangga Belum Bahas Cawapres

JAKARTA - Prospective presidential candidate from the PDI-P, Ganjar Pranowo, said that his political communication with the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, had not yet reached the stage of discussing the vice presidential candidate.

"Not yet, not yet at that stage (discussing the vice presidential candidate)," said Ganjar to the media crew after giving a speech at the training for campaigners (jurkam) for the winning team of presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo, in Central Jakarta, Antara, Monday, July 17.

Previously, Ganjar Pranowo as Governor of Central Java held a meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, Monday afternoon.

Ganjar admitted that he had talked about politics with Airlangga outside the meeting room.

“Yes, our political communication continues on all matters, yes. "In the sense that everyone wants to explore, everyone wants to communicate, and of course we open that communication space," said Ganjar.

Furthermore, Ganjar also said that he and Airlangga were both alumni of Gadjah Mada University (UGM). They are also members of the Gadjah Mada Alumni Family (Kagama).

For this reason, Ganjar admitted that he often met and communicated with Airlangga. In fact, he did not deny having time to discuss future political possibilities.

"We are talking about future agendas, although of course in practical interests negotiations will definitely be carried out," he said.

In accordance with the Indonesian KPU schedule, registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates will start from 19 October to 25 November 2023.

Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (Election Law) regulates that presidential/vice presidential candidate pairs are proposed by political parties or combinations of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the valid votes. nationally in the previous DPR member elections.

Currently there are 575 seats in parliament so that the presidential/vice presidential candidate pair in the 2024 presidential election must have the support of a minimum of 115 seats from the DPR RI. Candidate pairs can also be nominated by political parties or combinations of political parties participating in the 2019 Election whose total number of valid votes is at least 34,992,703 votes.
