Saldi Isra Calls Denny Indrayana's Tweet To Lose The Constitutional Court

Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Saldi Isra, said that the tweet of former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Denny Indrayana regarding the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the general election system (election) had harmed the Constitutional Court institutionally. "This opinion is detrimental to us institutionally, as if we discussed it and it was leaked outside," said Saldi Isra in a press conference after reading the verdict at the Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, June 15. The discussion of case number 114/PUU-XX/2022 related to the legislative election system was only carried out by the panel of judges on June 5, 2023. However, during the discussion on June 5, 2023, there was no judge's position yet, neither the judge stated that he rejected the lawsuit nor granted the lawsuit. Saldi Isra explained that intensive discussions took place on June 7, 2023. "That day the position of each judge was only decided, and when the RPH (Hakim Consultative Meeting) was held on June 7, the RPH trial was only attended by 8 constitutional judges," said Saldi. When RPH, Constitutional Justice Manahan MP Sitompul was serving abroad. Therefore, the position of the judge is 8 to 1 with 8 constitutional judges stating that they reject the petitioners' petition and one constitutional judge grants part of the petitioners' petition. Saldi Isra underlined the absence of one constitutional judge in the RPH. According to him, this fact is important to refute Denny Indrayana's tweet. "Why is this a point that we are stressing, because someone is of the opinion that since May 28, there has been a decision and the judge's position is 6-3," said Saldi Isra. Previously, former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Denny Indrayana claimed to have received information about the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the legislative electoral system that would return to a closed proportional system or party voting. "This morning I received important information. The Constitutional Court will decide on the legislative election to return to a closed proportional system, again choosing the party's image mark," Denny said via a tweet on his Twitter account @dennyindranaya, Sunday (28/6).

On this suspicion, Spokesperson for the Constitutional Court Fajar Laksono has also submitted a rebuttal.
